Individualistic Doer (ID)

(Just visiting? Take the free test and determine your personality type!)

Individualistic
Doers are self-assured and very independent persons. They are quiet and
realistic, very rational, extremely matter of fact persons. They
strongly cultivate their individualism and enjoy applying their
abilities to new tasks. But they are also very spontaneous and
impulsive persons who like to follow their sudden inspirations.
Individualistic Doers are good and precise observers who register
everything which goes on around them. However, they are not so
sensitive as regards interpersonal relations and are surprised when
they occasionally rub someone up the wrong way with their direct and
blunt manner. They are not particularly fond of obligations; but if you
give them space, they are uncomplicated, sociable and cheerful
individuals.

Individualistic Doers enjoy challenges - action and
the odd kick are simply part of their life. They love tempting fate and
many people of this type have risky hobbies such as skydiving or bungee
jumping. This also applies to their workaday life. Individualistic
Doers are in top form in critical situations; they can grasp
situations, make decisions and take the necessary steps extremely
quickly. Hierarchies and authorities impress them very little; if a
superior is not competent, they will have little respect for him.
Individualistic Doers like to take on responsibility. They have a
marked sense of reality and always find the most suitable and expedient
solution for a problem. They resolve conflicts openly and directly;
here, they sometimes lack tact but are also very good at taking
criticism themselves.

As friends, Individualistic Doers are
loyal and devoted; they only have a few friendships but many of them
last a lifetime. People enjoy talking to them because of their
optimistic attitude to life and their ability to listen. However, they
prefer to talk about mutual interests and hobbies rather than about
theoretical or philosophical issues - they are not tangible enough for
them. They need a lot of freedom and time to themselves in love
relationships but, at the same time, they are also very tolerant
towards their partners. It happens very seldom that Individualistic
Doers fall head over heels in love. They are far too rational. They
prefer to pick their partner on the basis of mutual interests and
preferences which they want to share with that partner. Individualistic
Doers are not particularly fond of effusive outbursts of emotion. They
prefer to prove their love by their actions and expect the same of
their partner. Whoever wishes to tie an Individualistic Doer to himself
needs a lot of patience. It takes some time before this personality
type is willing to get involved with another person.

Adjectives which describe your type

introverted, practical,
logical, spontaneous, adventurous, resolved, independent, fearless,
loyal, analytical, realistic, optimistic, interested, quiet, curious,

communicative, down-to-earth

These subjects could interest you

travel,

it's 1:16am, and i'm still awake. we just came from lola's*. this time we
did not come from the hospital, but we came from the chapel where she's
sleeping. it feels different, as i got used to the routine of running back and forth the hospital, the pharmacy, and our home.

tonight, i contemplate through what have happened
during the past month. it had been stressful, because there are a lot of things that have happened. things you wouldn't think of happening but they happened nonetheless. it's like a combination of several soap operas combined into just one. one thing i can say for
sure, lola was taken by our Lord, perhaps He doesn't want her to suffer anymore, since she has gone through a lot.

lola
passed away last sunday, at almost 9am, contrary to the earlier
information that she passed away last saturday (sorry to my friends,
but my sister called me on my way to lucena, and groggy as i still am
due to lack of sleep from my previous shift, i answered her call,
surprised about her sad news). technically, she almost left by then, if
not for the nurses who tried to revive her as opposed to my uncles' and
aunts' decision (since lola's body deteriorated gradually due to
multi-organ failure and the doctors suggested not to revive her in
case, also she is too weak already).

i believe it's also a
blessing in disguise, since i know she's still waiting for someone. not
all of her sons and daughters were able to go there on her death bed
last saturday. i was on my way from manila to lucena and will be attending a friend's wedding after lunch, and thankful as i am, i may have not seen her still alive, even though seeing her at that state is really unpleasant.

it's a good thing though, that my uncle (whom i believe was one of those she's really
waiting for) went there and paid respect, talking to lola for the last
time (even though we know she can't reply, still we do know she heard
everything). most especially, we were able to have a priest bless her.

i
just hope and pray that sooner or later, she'll be able to accept what
happened, because i know how strong her will to live is.

i'd also like to say thank you to all those who have expressed their support and prayers.

to
lola, wherever you are, you may be standing right by my side right now,
i don't know... but all i know is that i would like to say, thank you.
you have been an epitome of real, great, selfless love that not
everyone can show. i feel so blessed to have you as my grandmother. you
surely left a legacy in our hearts and will forever be remembered.

♥i love you lola.♥

*lola - tagalog/filipino word for grandmother

i dread
watching morning or evening news. i never fail feeling sick about
what's going on with our political and national issues. thanks to the
entertainment and weather reports, my mind gets diverted from these
depressing facts. still, it won't take away the fact that this is ongoing, and something needs to be done.

reading this from my email made me think THIS is the TRUTH, it is something WE Filipinos should all do.

THE DIFFERENCE

The difference between the poor countries and the rich ones is not the age of the country:

This can be shown by countries like India & Egypt , that are more than 2000 years old, but are poor.

On
the other hand, Canada , Australia & New Zealand , that 150 years
ago were inexpressive, today are developed countries, and are rich.

The difference between poor & rich countries does not reside in the available natural resources.

Japan
has a limited territory, 80% mountainous, inadequate for agriculture
& cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country
is like an immense floating factory, importing raw materials from the
whole world and exporting manufactured products.

Another example
is Switzerland , which does not plant cocoa but has the best chocolate
in the world. In its little territory they raise animals and plant the
soil during 4 months per year. Not enough, they produce dairy products
of the best quality! It is a small country that transmits an image of
security, order & labor, which made it the world's strongest, safest
place.

Executives
from rich countries who communicate with their counterparts in poor
countries show that there is no significant intellectual difference.

Race
or skin color are also not important: immigrants labeled lazy in their
countries of origin are the productive power in rich European countries.

What
is the difference then? The difference is the attitude of the people,
framed along the years by the education & the culture & flawed
tradition.

On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich &
developed countries, we find that the great majority follow the
following principles in their lives:

1. Ethics, as a basic principle.
2. Integrity.
3. R esponsibility.
4. Respect to the laws & rules.
5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.
6. Work loving.
7. Strive for savings & investment.
8. Will of super action.
9. Punctuality.
10. and of course...Discipline

In poor countries, only a minority follow these basic principles in their daily life.

The
Philippines is not poor because we lack natural resources or because
nature was cruel to us. In fact, we are supposedly rich in natural
resources.

We are poor because we lack the correct attitude. We
lack the will to comply with and teach these functional principles of
rich & developed societies.

If you do not forward this
message nothing will happen to you. Your pet will not die, you will not
be fired, you will not have bad luck for seven years, and also, you
will not get sick or go hungry.

But those may happen because of
your lack of discipline & laziness, your love for intrigue and
politics, your indifference to saving for the future, your stubborn
attitude.

If you love your country, let this message circulate so that many Filipinos could reflect about this, & CHANGE, ACT!

===========

(My two cents....)

I
believe that each and everyone of us have a different view on how to
act and how to change... but if there is a common denominator, I firmly
believe that every TRUE FILIPINO wants nothing more than to see this
country move forward...

I agree with the views of Dr. Martin,
before we can effect change in anything, it has to begin from ourselves
and then pass it on to our children, relatives and friends.... then we
would have effected change in our community and if everyone does this,
then we could effect change in our country....

The PHILIPPINES
is NOT ONE PERSON but everyone who lives in this country and professes
GENUINE LOVE and CONCERN for it and its people...

When was the
last time that you did something for your COUNTRY and your FELLOWMAN
without anything to gain? For myself, this is something I would need to
reflect on SERIOUSLY and HONESTLY...

Editor's Note: This article was updated on 3/3/08 from a previous version published on 12/15/06.

No matter how you arrive at an unsafe Web site, much can go wrong
when you do. Phishers will attempt to coerce you into disclosing
sensitive information--such as your address and social security
number--and adware engines may sprout pop-ups over your screen like a
field of clover. Thankfully, you can learn to avoid trouble before it's
too late. Here are nine telltale signs you're headed for dangerous waters, with tips to keep you firmly in the safety zone.

Nobody's perfect, and while these nine tips should help you avoid many
dangerous sites, other online threats are more subtle. Two tools can
assist in warning you about dangerous sites. LinkScanner Lite and McAfee SiteAdvisor (for Firefox and Internet Explorer) assess the hazards of sites you visit, and is available for Firefox or Internet Explorer. Online Armor scans sites in real time based on traceable patterns of malicious software behavior.

Also, our Security Starter Kit presents an excellent set of tools to provide a solid foundation of defense against potential threats.

Sign 1: Pop-up city
You click a search result and are suddenly bombarded with no fewer than
10 porn pop-ups. Back out immediately by either clicking the X in the
upper-right corners of the windows or by pressing Alt-F4 to close your
browser. Then run a malicious software scanner and remover to assess
and fix the damage. Many pop-up blockers are available for Internet Explorer, and both Firefox and Opera include blocking features.

It's a mouthful, but EULAlyzer's ease of use makes up for its awkward pronunciation.
(Credit: CNET Networks)

Sign 2: Where's the EULA?
You're about to sign up for or purchase a service and aren't prompted
to accept an end-user license agreement, nor are you offered a privacy
policy to view. Shady site proprietors often disclose their intentions
in the privacy policy or EULA, so you should always read carefully! The
free tool EULAlyzer (from the makers of SpywareBlaster)
is a great help because it analyzes license agreements and notes any
unusual or possibly dangerous language. An upgrade to the professional
version is available for about $20.

Sign 3: Excessive firewall alerts
Your firewall repeatedly alerts you to file extensions you don't
recognize and other suspicious anomalies. Once you've set your firewall
to allow your most common programs, any alert should be taken
seriously, and a number of warnings should be a red light something is
amiss. If you're not running a firewall, get one right now.

Sign 4: E-mail and instant message links phish for information
You follow a link embedded in an e-mail and arrive at a site that asks
you to provide security information for an "important update."
Misleading links are increasingly sent through instant messages under
the guise of a contact's friendly tip. This variety is especially easy
to fall for. If the page is asking for data or looks like a different
destination than the link implied, pull yourself out of autopilot and
start taking screenshots. Contact the company for verification before taking any action, and check the Federal Trade Commission's alert board.

Sign 5: The site's URL and e-mail don't match
Any case in which a site's URL doesn't match the contact's e-mail
address should raise an alarm. Most legitimate companies provide their
employees with a corporate e-mail account. This doesn't mean, however,
that you can automatically trust sites where the two align.
Illegitimate companies can purchase domain names as easily as
legitimate companies.

Phishing link sent through Yahoo IM.
(Credit: CNET Networks)

Sign 6: Are you secured?
If a site prompts you to enter personal information, such as a
username, password, or credit card number, check the browser window.
Unless the site is secure--that is, unless the address starts with
https:// and a closed padlock appears at the bottom of the window--your
information is ripe for theft.

Sign 7: Check teh speling
Developers and engineers may have a bad reputation when it comes to
grammar, and that's why most companies hire wordsmiths. Be wary of a
site chock-full of grammatical and spelling errors. That includes the
Web address--there's a world of difference between www.yahoo.com and
www.yhoo.com.

Sign 8: Nested links
Does the site forward you to a
completely unrelated site when you land on it? If nested links
progressively take you to other sites, the host may be trying to pull a
fast one.

Sign 9: Ridiculously large gifts
If a free gift offer seems
too good to be true, it probably is. You don't get a $500 gift
certificate for doing nothing. Most often you'll have to provide
personal information, download something compromising, engage your
friends in a pyramid scheme, or all of the above. Even after you read
the EULA, beware--the free iPod site that originally received positive press was sued in New York in March 2006 for violating its own stated privacy policy.
