it's 1:56am and i'm still up. i'm burning a cd for my friend's wedding.
and i am reading this.
it's been almost a month since my grandma was rushed to the hospital, last april 2nd, to be exact. she was then rushed to the ICU and was staying there until this very moment.
it first started with a heart attack with mild stroke. then it was discovered that she has pneumonia. since she's having some difficulty breathing, she remained hooked to her respirator. later on, she developed ileus. thank God, her pneumonia and ileus are both gone, and her wbc (white blood cell) count is down from 28000 to just 13000, indicating the infection has been treated. we got relaxed somehow, thinking that the only thing we have to deal with is weaning her from the respirator.
the doctors have already suggested tracheostomy way before, since it's only advisable for her to rely on it for a maximum of 14 days. but due to her blood pressure dropping and her having a second heart attack, it was delayed. to make it worse, she's acquired pseudomonas, only making us more afraid for her.
she just had her 88th birthday last saturday, april 26th. i'm thankful she made it this far, even though her body's too weak. hopefully the tracheostomy will push through tomorrow, so the chances of her respirator-induced pneumonia will not recur.
i can only pray for her. please include her on your prayers too, thank you.
