you might also like BookCrossings.com

You "register" your book, put it's tracking number & bookcrossing info in/on it, then leave the book somewhere (aka: Set it Free) and input the location to the website.

note: A lot of people try to set them free in places that have something to do with the book (for example, I want to leave the PoisonWood Bible in the ant pesticide section of my local garden store - but keep forgetting).

In theory, when the book is found, the finder log's in that they found it, read's it, inputs a review, then leaves it somewhere else. And you get to track it's progress.

There are also options to "hunt books in the wild" - you input an area and it will tell you where & what books have been set free. You go see if you can find them.

thanks a lot for sharing this page. ^^,
you bet, i'm starting to like the idea of this site too.
wow, i think i'm going to check out a lot of those sites! since you love reading, you might want to check out shelfari.com. you can put up a bookshelf of the books you've already read. they have a vast range of book covers which you can use as display on your shelf. you can even have your top ten books, books you're currently reading and your wish list. :o)

i kind of work for PreFound.com
hi there... i checked that site, and i like the way it works.
Wow. This is an excellent list. I am a book worm too. I use my public library frequently to check out audio books. Saves me serious money from having to buy them! I use goodreads.com; however, I am in LOVE with shelfari.com. The visuals are great there for your books! Thanks again for sharing with us!
thank you. ^^,
since you love audiobooks, you might want to check that site above -- librivox.com ^_^
thanks for sharing those 2 links... 0=)

Excellent article! I saw Shelfari.com via SerentityLife - it looks really cool. I am so tired of entering my books, and getting tired of the the site, the people on that site, etc. and doing it all over at another. I hope Shelfari can be my permanent home. :)

Audible.com and iTunes Music Store audio books are really cool, if not cheap.

For text books, Project Gutenburg is hard to beat! :)

I'd say this blog post of yours can more than hold it's own against some of the link lists that make it to digg's front page. Nice!
thanks mikey... ^^,

in line to that, i recently signed up for bookmooch.com, you might want to check that site too. it allows you to swap books with other users too.

instead of shelfari.com, i entered my books on librarything.com, and i also got tired of uploading my books. ^_^
thanks a lot... ^_^
these are actually the outcome of spending too much time online... lol.

I got the one too - librarything.com

Deja vu... It will let you import somewhat. Kinda' worked for Amazon books I've bought previously. I am:

I am thinking of getting an inexpensive USB barcode scanner. That way I can just scan the barcode on books, CDs and DVDs. I have way too many of those to type them all in! ^^

I check bookmooch. :)
