I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Manila to see a gathering of art by one of my favorite painters, Fernando Amorsolo.
The exhibition, entitled "His Art, Our Heart: Amorsolo Retrospective" is such a good idea to call rare Amorsolo paintings to go on public. The organizers coordinated with painting owners and borrowed them to be part of the exhibit.
Its goal is to share with the people how the artist saw the Philippines in his eyes during his time and how he immortalized them by the exuberance of his paint brush making the Philippine sun as his famous style.
Also, other themes will be featured in the entire Philippines, several cities and museums will feature different sets of paintings.. That's a lot!
This is a major (again, major!) project that's a real treat for art and Amorsolo aficionados!Anyway, Of course, I'm in the Metropolitan Museum, so I saw again one of my top 10 favorite paintings in the whole world, Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo's "Virgenes Cristianas Expuestas al Populacho" (The Christian virgins Exposed to the Populace).
I stared at it for 15 minutes. Went around and went back to it again.. Went downstairs and looked at it once again.. it's really such a beautiful piece and the chiaroscuro would hit the viewer right in the heart.
I could see each character's soul and could feel their emotions. I wonder how the bigger one looked like.. well, unfortunately, it's gone.
Taking a photo is definitely a no-no. But I really want something to look at when I feel like it. ^_^
Go Visit!
Yey, We won this 84th season's NCAA basketball!
We hurriedly went to the school to be part of the traditional bonfire.. it was fun, party all night, but I had to leave.
I will always hate the part where girls are now part of the San Beda tradition, and the worst part of it is they literally seem to dominate the grounds! My gawd!
- 11:52 I'm beginning to think that I might have food poisoning. My stomach has been in really bad shape all day. #
- 19:33 According to @jeffbalke I could write a book about my week called "One Thing Leads To Another." It's totally true. #
- 20:08 @TheFuzzball: Jose and The Pussycats! Long tails and ears to match! #
- 20:10 @organ_printer: Eat a ton of the creamy jalapano sauce for me! I don't care for Chuy's food, but that sauce is the best thing ever. #
- 20:13 @CosmoPolitician & @daysies: Happy birthday, you wonderful ladies! Y'all both rock so hard! #
- 21:26 @CosmoPolitician: I saw that commercial today for the first time and really liked it. #
- 00:21 I think the Ambien is kicking in. Off to sleep, hopefully not too influenced by Cormac McCarthy's The Road, which I just finished & loved. #

Six Flags Great Adventure.
I do not have photograph of it, so I went there since 2002, 2003, 2004... I miss going there every summer, I want to go back to Six Flags!
... and I'm going to miss all of the "More Flags, More Fun" commercials when this 2008 season ends.
found at the lovely Bethany's.
Sitting on the green swivel desk chair that I brought home from school this summer and haven't taken back to work because everyone here likes to use it with the computer. I guess that gives me permission to buy a new one for school ;)
Smelling popcorn that Lydia made a few minutes ago.
Listening to TrueBlood on the TV. I'm still enjoying it though it gets a little raunchy when the brother is on.
Drinking 4C Iced Green Tea.
Reading The Condition: A Novel. It's okay so far but not great. Again- I am not connecting with the characters. They're not very likable. I'll give it a few more chapters. Waiting to be read is The Graceyard Book by my beloved Neil.
Loving the crisp weather.
Dreading nothing at the moment- thank you God :)
Eagerly anticipating Luke's field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo tomorrow. I took a personal day so I could play Mom instead of teacher for the day.
Worrying about my mom and dad. They had a tough time paying for their oil last winter and this winter doesn't look to be much easier. And on top of that, my dad is worried his plant may be closing. He's a year and a half from retirement and this would be a terrible set-back for them.
Wishing for a best friend.
Praying every morning in the shower for daily mercy.
Grateful for our security.
Sharing with you!
